About SynkEngine

SynkEngine turns the phones you already have into one big sound system. It plays the same song on every phone in the room at the same instant, over your own Wi-Fi, so a table of phones sounds like one big speaker. It is an independent app, for Android and Windows, with iPhone on its way.

Why it exists

When friends meet, everyone has a phone and nobody has a speaker. So SynkEngine makes every phone in the room play the same song at the same instant, and lets the room become the speaker. Spread the phones around and the sound follows the crowd: no speakers to carry, no cables, no accounts.

What it does

• Music on every phone, in syncYour own files, YouTube or SoundCloud. Guests queue their songs from their own phone; the master keeps play, skip and volume.
• Movies and anime togetherThe same picture and sound on every phone, in step.
• One bigger screenStand two, three or four phones edge to edge and they become one wider picture.
• Karaoke ModeYour phone is the mic and every other phone is the speaker, with the lyrics in sync on every phone.

How it's built

• No servers, no accounts. The phones find each other on your Wi-Fi and agree on one party clock. Nothing about you or your music leaves the room.
• It keeps listening. In short listening rounds, each phone's microphone turns the music into a coarse loudness curve and the sound itself is discarded, so the host can measure how far apart the speakers really are and move the late ones back into step.
• Two apps, checked against each other. The Android app is written in Java and the Windows app in Go, and the Windows app's timing maths is tested against the Android original.
• Made in Mauritius by one person working with two AI models. The engineering notes are in the geek corner, on our LinkedIn page and on GitHub.
