New in 6.61 · 50 seconds · the explainer
SynkEngine plays the same song on every phone in the room, in sync. New: tap Speech, and your phone becomes the microphone while every other phone in the party becomes a speaker. Your voice on all of them, at the same instant, over the Wi-Fi you already share. Here is how, in 50 seconds.
Alpha launch: 11/11 · 11:11 · Official launch: 12/12 · 12:12

In a SynkEngine party, tap Speech: your phone becomes the microphone and every other phone in the party plays your voice, at the same instant. The music pauses for the speech and comes back at its place afterwards.
The voice travels over the Wi-Fi (or the host's hotspot) the party already shares; that is what makes the phones a party at all. A Bluetooth speaker paired to a phone in the party carries the voice too, and a phone on Bluetooth earbuds plays it in the earbuds.
A short one, the same for everyone: the party waits for its slowest output so that every phone speaks at the same instant. In our 31 October test the voice reached the room about a quarter of a second after it was spoken with phones only, and about 0.4 s with a Bluetooth speaker in the party. It is a voice channel, built for announcements, speeches and singing, not a hi-fi feed.
The party's master speaks. Anyone else can ask for the microphone, and the master says yes; the countdown then runs on every phone and the mic is theirs.
Every phone in the party, on the same Wi-Fi: a room, a terrace, a hall, a street corner. Our tests ran three phones and a laptop; the design carries dozens. In a crowd, the people on SynkEngine carry the voice for the people around them.
No. Your voice is sent live over the local Wi-Fi only, to the devices in your party, and played; it is never stored or uploaded. Your phone asks for microphone permission the first time.
Android 6.61.2 and later (the build on Google Play's test is 6.61.6); a Windows 6.62 laptop can host the party and plays the speech like every other device. iPhone is coming.
The alpha opens on 11/11 at 11:11 and the official launch is 12/12 at 12:12 (Mauritius, GMT+4). Request the app on synkengine.com; SynkEngine is on Android and Windows now, and iPhone is coming.
The poster is on our channels in 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1; the vertical cut of the film is on TikTok, Reels and Shorts.

Get the appWhat the film says is what the app does in 6.61: the Speech button, the countdown on every phone, one microphone and every other phone a speaker, the voice over the party's Wi-Fi, a Bluetooth speaker carrying it, the music back at its place. The places are drawings; in the hall and the street only the people with SynkEngine carry the voice, and the phones in their pockets do. The voice channel is built for speech and singing, and the party waits for its slowest output so that every phone speaks at once. More on how it's built: the geek corner.
